Present AI Sires

We purchased our first herd sire along with our first cows from Oveson Herefords in 1978. In 1985, we purchased a heifer from Harrell Hereford Ranch and was given 10 straws of semen from L1 Challenger. Using the 10 straws of semen we welcomed 10 AI bull calves. From that time, we have searched out the best nationally recognized AI Sires in the Hereford breed and have used them extensively. Two home-raised bulls are used for clean up after a 60 day breeding period.

One of the greatest moments for Bird Herefords occurred in 1994 when they sold the Reserve Fall Calf Champion B 804 Dom 8020, also known as the Bird Bull in Denver for $47,500 for three quarter interest to Veladi Ranch in Texas. His semen was used extensively the following years. Several cows in the herd are direct descendants.
